Once Upon A Wartime delves into the pages of well-loved books, bringing five stories of war dramatically to life.

Adults and children can wander through life-size sets, peer into intricate scale models and explore the stories’ themes of loyalty, separation, excitement, survival and identity.’

Imperial war museum

I have taken a recent interest in war time evacuees, so I decided to re-do my re-inventing illustration brief on this subject. I took a recent trip to the Imperial war museum where there is an exhibition reflecting the young live of children during war-time - including letters and toys from children evacuated from London.

Really difficult to get a good picture of the final piece due to the length.

Please with the final outcome, as I feel the original photographs were of good quality. I enjoyed this project as    

I could play around with the layout and typefaces without being restricted. 

The idea behind this was to create a story from my regular trip from getting off the night bus to my house in Kilburn and how everything becomes creepy and putting things that aren't there into your head.

There's something creepy about these

concentrating on the children of haiti, messing around with these in photocopier and scanner to create a dark atmosphere.

Final typeface in context.

Aimed at 60's breakfast related designs for the kitchen, I think the first design works better as it stands out, trying to portray a easy going, just woken up moment.
